Is balayage for you?

Balayage works best when you…

01

Want low maintenance

Regrowth blends in, so you can stretch appointments to every few months.

02

Have dark or medium hair

Brunettes and dark blondes get the most natural-looking lift and warmth.

03

Are growing out color

Painted pieces soften the line between old color and new growth.

04

Want a face-framing glow

Brighter pieces around the face lift your skin tone without a full change.

Aftercare

Keep your balayage bright

First week

  • Wait 48–72 hours before the first wash
  • Skip chlorine pools and salt water
  • Air-dry when you can
  • Avoid clarifying shampoos

Ongoing

  • Sulfate-free, color-safe shampoo
  • Purple or blue shampoo once a week if brassy
  • Heat protection every time you style
  • Gloss or tone between lightening sessions
One of the best salons in Downtown! The team is incredibly professional, always on time, and super efficient. Even though I have the option to go to women-only salons, I feel completely comfortable here and always have a great experience. I'm genuinely so happy with the results every time. Highly recommend!

Bring the right photos

Choose photos of people with a similar starting color to yours. Caramel balayage on dark brown hair and icy balayage on light blonde are very different appointments. Show us where you want the brightness — face, ends or all over.

How long it takes

Hand-painting, processing, toning and a blow dry take time: plan roughly 2.5–4 hours depending on length and thickness. Very dark or previously colored hair may need two sessions to go light safely.

Toner is half the result

Lightened hair goes warm. A toner adjusts it to the shade you chose — honey, caramel, beige or ash. Toners fade, so a gloss between lightening sessions keeps the color fresh.

Balayage on dark hair

Dark brown and black hair look best with caramel, chestnut and bronze tones that stay close to the base. They also grow out the most naturally, which is the point of balayage.

Price

Balayage is booked as a color appointment and priced by length and how much lightening you want; your stylist confirms before starting. For comparison, highlights are $200 and full color is $250–$400.
