One of the best salons in Downtown! The team is incredibly professional, always on time, and super efficient. Even though I have the option to go to women-only salons, I feel completely comfortable here and always have a great experience. I'm genuinely so happy with the results every time. Highly recommend!
Choosing a hair colorist in Los Angeles
Good hair color starts long before the bowl is mixed. The right colorist asks about your history, looks at your hair in daylight, tells you what's realistic in one visit and gives you a price before starting. Here's how we work — and what to ask any salon in LA.
Start with a consultation
We look at three things: your starting color (natural or colored), your hair's condition and your goal. Bring photos of the color you want and one you don't. Mention box dye, henna, keratin or anything done in the last year — it all affects how color takes. If your goal needs more than one appointment to keep your hair healthy, we'll say so up front.
Which service you need
- Single process ($110, $80–$150 by length): one color all over or at the roots. Covers gray, deepens or warms your natural shade.
- Highlights ($200): lighter pieces placed with foils for brightness. See highlights.
- Balayage: hand-painted, softer lightening that grows out gently. See balayage.
- Full color ($250 medium, $400 long): a complete change of shade.
- Full bleach ($150, short hair): lightening all over, often before a toner or a vivid shade.
Color correction
Brassy blonde, uneven box dye, banding or a shade that went too dark — corrections are common, and usually fixable. They're also unpredictable, so we assess in person, explain the plan and quote before we start. Some corrections take two sessions; that's better than over-processing in one.
Gray coverage and root touch-ups
Single process at the roots covers gray completely; most clients come back every 4–6 weeks. Want something softer that grows out less obviously? Ask about adding a few highlights to blend the regrowth. For men, see men's hair color and gray blending.
Fashion and vivid colors
Blue, pink, copper or pastel shades usually need the hair lightened first, then the vivid color on top. They fade faster than natural shades, so plan on cool-water washes and color-depositing conditioner. We'll tell you how long your shade should last before you commit.
Same-day color appointments
Same-day slots are often available, especially on weekdays — check live times online or call (213) 545-6507. We're at 650 S Grand Ave in Downtown LA, open every day from 9 AM to 8 PM.
