Wedding grooming checklist for grooms and groomsmen
Wedding photos are close-ups in harsh light, and they last forever. The cut should look fresh but settled, the beard sharp but not raw, and the groomsmen consistent without looking identical. Here's the timeline we recommend.
Six to eight weeks out
Decide on the style. If you're changing it — growing out, going shorter, trying a fade for the first time — this is the moment. Book the dates for the trial and the final cut now.
Two to three weeks out
Trial cut. See the style, live with it for a few days, adjust length or shape. Grooms who want gray softened should do color here too, so the shade looks natural by the day.
Two to five days out
Final cut. Close enough to be fresh, far enough for edges to soften. Many grooms book the VIP here: cut, beard, full-face wax, gold-mask facial and steam in one appointment.
The day before or the day of
Beard line-ups and styling. If you're getting ready together at a hotel, a house call for up to seven people keeps everyone in one place and on schedule.
Keeping the groomsmen consistent
Not everyone needs the same cut, but everyone should be cut in the same week and finished with the same type of product — matte or shine. Send us a photo of the group or the suits if you want the looks coordinated.
Wedding grooming questions
When should the groom get his haircut?
A trial cut 2–3 weeks before and the final cut 2–5 days before the wedding. Beard line-ups can be done the day before or on the day.
Can your barber come to our hotel or venue?
Yes — house calls are $600 for up to 2 haircuts, $900 for up to 4 and $1,400 for up to 7.
Can the groomsmen book together in the studio?
Yes. Book each appointment online, or call (213) 545-6507 and we’ll help line up back-to-back times.
Do you do services for the bride?
In the studio we offer blowouts, women’s haircuts and color, lash lifts and eyebrow threading.
How far ahead should we book?
For weekend weddings, 3–4 weeks ahead is safest, especially for house calls.
